Upholding Silverline™ Soybean Stewardship

Your Role in the Silverline™ Supply Chain

As an elevator or processor handling Silverline™ soybeans, your role is essential to preserving the quality, integrity, and marketability of this high-protein soybean variety. By adhering to stewardship standards, you ensure that Silverline™ soybeans meet the requirements of food-grade markets and support sustainable agricultural practices. Your efforts directly contribute to the success of the entire value chain.

Key Stewardship Responsibilities

1 Proper Handling and Storage
  • Maintain Quality: Implement practices that prevent contamination and preserve the high-protein content of Silverline™ soybeans. Clean storage facilities and equipment regularly to eliminate residue and reduce contamination risks.
  • Environmental Control: Monitor and manage temperature and moisture levels to prevent spoilage and maintain optimal grain quality.
2 Traceability and Compliance
  • Accurate Documentation: Maintain detailed records of grain origin, storage conditions, and handling processes to ensure traceability throughout the supply chain.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Work with Syngenta to cross-check grain intake against reconciled grower sales and signed Stewardship Agreements (SSAs). Syngenta encourages incorporating data-sharing provisions in IP contracts to facilitate compliance.
3 Support CIPRS Certification
  • Encourage participation in the Canadian Identity Preserved Recognition System (CIPRS) program. Certification demonstrates your commitment to stewardship and positions your business as a reliable partner for food-grade markets.
  • Ensure that grain from farm-saved seed is not accepted, as this violates the SSA and cannot be delivered to CIPRS-certified elevators.
4 Collaborate with Growers and Retailers
  • Quality Feedback: Provide growers with feedback on soybean quality to support continuous improvement.
  • Education: Share best practices and compliance expectations with supply chain partners to maintain stewardship integrity.
5 Prohibit Seed Repurposing
  • Processed seed must not be repurposed for planting or used outside of contracted delivery agreements. This ensures the integrity and marketability of the Silverline™ brand.
